Post-Thanksgiving NFL Team Performance

For the NFL, the true push for the playoffs typically begins after Thanksgiving each year. As with almost every other scenario analyzed, some teams perform better down the stretch, while other flounder. Some do better in certain late season favorite/underdog or home/road dichotomies. There are still other teams whose late season success hinges on whether or not they are still in the playoff hunt. I’m here to uncover all of this, as I study the recent history of the NFL, post-Thanksgiving weekend.

Betting double-digit NBA pointspreads
NBA - StatFox Jim just read an article that somebody had published on the Internet talking about how to handicap the NBA. Their first rule was to eliminate any game with a double-digit point spread. If you would have done this last year, you would have immediately eliminated 19.6% of all regular season games, 237 games. Rather than doing that, here's some angles you can consider to help you beat these lofty pointspreads.

Oakland at San Diego – Still a Betting Opportunity
NFL - The Chargers have dropped four games in the last 24 seconds by a combined seven points and are probably better than their 4-8 record shows. With that said this is nowhere near the same team that played for the AFC title a year ago and came into 2008 as a heavy favorite to repeat as champion of a lackluster West division. With December upon us, San Diego’s (4-8, 5-7 ATS) margin for error is gone. It can’t afford to lose another game if it’s going to be lucky enough to overtake Denver for first place and return to the playoffs.

UCLA Underdog in Texas Rematch
CBB - UCLA coach Ben Howland thinks Texas could reach the Final Four. Having been there each of the last three years, he should know. The 12th-ranked Bruins and No. 8 Longhorns meet for the second straight season - this time in Austin - in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series on Thursday.

Bet the Farm on Rutgers
CFB - Earlier this year, it was suggested by several writers across the lower 48 and myself that possibly Greg Schiano, the Rutgers coach, had made a bad career move and not moved on from Rutgers after celebrated 11-2 season in 2006. As we are all aware, timing is extremely important in life. Last season was not expected to be as positive as the previous year with too many defensive players graduated, and the Scarlet Knights went to a second consecutive bowl game for the first time ever and got a pat on the head for finishing 8-5.
